Meta tag checker
Fetch one public page and read the title, meta description, canonical link, and robots tag.
This one uses a server lookup because the job cannot finish on the device alone.
How to use it
- 1Paste the full page URL, including https://.
- 2Choose Check.
- 3Read the tags that were found and the notes for anything missing.
- 4Copy the result. Kiln fetches only the address you submit.
When it helps
- See the title and description a search result can use.
- Check that a canonical URL is present.
- Notice a noindex robots tag before expecting the page in search.
Good to know
- Kiln reads the HTML it fetched. It does not run JavaScript, so tags added only in the browser are missed.
- Redirects are followed only when each hop stays on a public HTTP or HTTPS address, and only up to five hops.
- A long title or description is a note, not a penalty from a search engine.
Questions
Does this score the page?
No. It reports the tags it found and a few length notes. It does not estimate ranking.
Is the URL stored?
The address is sent so the page can be fetched. It is not saved as content you submitted, and it is not included in analytics.
