Open Graph preview
Show the social title, description, and image URL that a public page publishes. Kiln does not download the image.
This one uses a server lookup because the job cannot finish on the device alone.
How to use it
- 1Paste the full page URL, including https://.
- 2Choose Preview.
- 3Read the Open Graph and Twitter fields, and the list of anything missing.
- 4Copy the result. The image address is text, not a downloaded file.
When it helps
- Check the title and description a chat app or social site may show.
- Confirm an og:image URL is present before sharing a page.
- See whether Twitter card tags differ from the Open Graph tags.
Good to know
- Kiln does not download or display the image. It only reports the URL.
- Tags inserted by JavaScript after the page loads are not included.
- This is not a preview of how a particular social site will crop the image.
Questions
Why is the image not shown?
The image can be large, and fetching it is a second request. The result keeps the URL so you can open it yourself.
Is the page URL stored?
The address is sent so the page can be fetched. It is not saved as content you submitted, and it is not included in analytics.
