How to use it
- 1Type or paste into the box. The counts update on their own.

- 3Choose Clear to empty the box.
When it helps
- Check a draft against a word limit.
- Compare characters with and without spaces.
- Estimate how long a note takes to read.
Good to know
- Reading time uses 200 words per minute and rounds up to the next minute after the first 200 words.
- A character is one visible grapheme, so an emoji counts as one character rather than several code units.
- Characters without spaces also leaves out line breaks and tabs.
- Paragraphs are blocks separated by a blank line.
- The input stays under 500 KB.

Do I need to press a button?

Is the text saved?
No. The count runs in this browser. The text is not sent to a server or stored in analytics.
