Good to know
- Files need to be 12 MB or smaller, and the decoded image needs to stay under 12 million pixels.
- GIF files keep the first frame. SVG files are not opened.
- The original format is kept when this browser can encode it. JPEG and WebP use a high quality setting.
- Orientation is applied when the browser provides it. Location and other metadata are not copied into the new file.
Questions
Is the image uploaded?
No. Resizing happens in this browser. The file is not sent to a server or included in analytics.
What happens to a transparent PNG?
PNG and WebP keep transparency. A JPEG result uses a white background because JPEG has no transparency.
