Image metadata viewer

Open an image in this browser to see its pixel size and the metadata segments that can be read, then download a copy without that metadata.

It runs in your browser. What you enter stays on this device.

How to use it

  1. 1Drop an image onto the page, or choose a file.
  2. 2Read the dimensions and the metadata notes.
  3. 3Choose PNG or JPEG for the cleaned file.
  4. 4Download it. The original file stays on your device.

When it helps

  • See whether a JPEG has an Exif segment before you send it.
  • Notice a GPS tag in that segment.
  • Download a copy that does not carry the original metadata.

Good to know

  • The file stays in this browser. It is not uploaded.
  • JPEG notes say whether an Exif segment and a GPS tag are present. They do not list every camera field.
  • PNG notes list text keywords and say when an Exif chunk is present. WebP notes look for EXIF and XMP chunk names.
  • GIF comments are not listed. A cleaned export keeps the first frame.
  • SVG files are not opened. A cleaned JPEG puts transparent pixels on white.

Questions

Does the cleaned file remove location data?

The download is a new PNG or JPEG made from the pixels. The original Exif segment is not copied into it.
