Favicon generator

Upload one image and download a ZIP with PNG favicons, an ICO, an Apple touch icon, and a short HTML snippet.

It runs in your browser. What you enter stays on this device.

How to use it

  1. 1Drop an image onto the page, or choose a file.
  2. 2Check the preview of the square icons.
  3. 3Copy the HTML or download the ZIP.
  4. 4Put the files where the HTML paths point, usually the site root.

When it helps

  • Make a browser tab icon from a logo.
  • Add the Apple touch icon used when someone saves the site to a home screen.
  • Copy the link tags without writing the sizes by hand.

Good to know

  • The image stays in this browser. It is not uploaded.
  • GIF files keep the first frame. SVG files are not opened.
  • The ICO contains the 16 and 32 pixel PNGs. Very old browsers that cannot read a PNG inside an ICO need a different file.
  • Transparent pixels stay transparent in the PNG files. The Apple touch icon is flattened onto white because some home screens expect an opaque image.

Questions

Where do the files go?

The HTML uses root paths such as /favicon-32x32.png. Move the ZIP files to match those paths, or edit the paths.
